THE MALINA FAMILY

TERRACOTTA TILES

ORIGIN: SERBIA

In Europe, people have used terracotta for centuries. In the present day, traditional terracotta tiles are discarded and replaced with more modern materials.

The artisans who give these abandoned tiles life again saw an opportunity – why not make the old breathe again?

These old terracotta tiles are purchased from the owners of  run-down homes, or sourced from abandoned buildings. The tiles are blasted and finished by hand with sandpaper, then cut individually one by one.

They are stacked for consistency and checked for quality.

THE LUO FAMILY

BLACK BRICKS

ORIGIN: CHINA

These black bricks are the same age and kind as those used to build the Great Wall of China. They originate from “Shikumen” – 19th Century residences in Shanghai.

In Shanghai, these bricks are incorporated into modern construction as a tribute to ancient china.

The abandoned, antique bricks have been restored beautifully, ready for new applications. They have been reshaped into 7 unique variations, honouring the 7 wonders of ancient China.
