Landscaper AILDM Awards

Every year, the AILDM National Landscape Design Awards recognise and showcase the very best landscape designers and projects around Australia.

Our members are known for their ability to create beautiful, sustainable gardens and landscapes, bringing innovation and professionalism to each project’s unique site requirements. We’re proud to celebrate the high calibre of design through these annual awards.

Below are the various categories our members are awarded on:

Category 1 – Rooftop

Residential or Commercial Landscape Design of a rooftop space

Category 2 – Balcony

Residential or Commercial Landscape Design of a balcony garden

Category 3 – Residential Vertical Garden

Residential Landscape Design of a vertical garden

Category 4 – Residential – less than 50m2

Residential Landscape Design : the landscaped area to be less than 50m2

Category 5 – Residential – from 51-150m2

Residential Landscape Design: the landscaped area to be from 51 – 150m2

Category 6 – Residential – more than 151m2

Residential Landscape Design: The landscaped area to be more than 151m2

Category 7– Rural/Coastal

Landscape Design for a property outside the metropolitan area

Category 8 – Commercial Open Space

Landscape design for a commercial project, public place or park

Category 9 – Commercial Educational/Institutional

Landscape design for a commercial project: including commercial buildings, factories and multi-unit housing, or a project for an institution, kindergarten, school or hospital

Category 10 – Plantscape Design

A minimum 20m2 of landscape design displaying an interesting, integrated plantscape (any value)

Category 11 – Landscape Management – Environmental

For projects that may involve elements of landscape design, project management, policy documents and conservation plans. Entries in this category may look at the impact of a development and ways in which living elements can be maintained and protected. The entry must exhibit strong environmental, conservation and/or sustainable principles (any value). These projects may include environmental plans for sensitive sites, revegetation plans, bush regeneration, water catchment management.

Category 12 – Landscape Management – Amenity Horticulture

For projects that are concerned with the long term care and conservation of an existing landscape with planning for future management and use. This includes care of parks, gardens and created outdoor spaces. Entries must include a document which outlines the site and its constraints, the management aims and objectives and recommendations for the future. (any value)

Category 13 – Pro Bono

A landscape design, which has been donated free to an institution such as a charity, school, kindergarten, hospital or disability housing (any value).

Category 14 – Recent Graduate

Residential Landscape Design to a given brief

This category is for designers who have been out of college or university for no longer than three years. Previous winners of an Award in this competition cannot enter this category.

Category 15 – Student

Residential Landscape Design to a given brief.

This category is for designers who are enrolled in a landscape design course in Australia that leads to an award of Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Design Certificate IV or Degree and do not hold a higher landscape design qualification. If you’re studying for a different award, you may apply for special permission to enter to the AILDM administrator with the support of your design teacher. Previous winners of an AILDM Design Award in this competition cannot enter this category.
